Shop Dog
Many of you that visited our shop/workroom in Southport were greeted by our golden retriever Sweet Pea. Thank you all for being so patent with her as she would bark whenever she saw a new face. She loved attention and if you didn’t give it to her she would ask for it with her barking. She was as gentle of a dog as anyone would want.
A few months ago we noticed some bumps on her that seemed a little abnormal. When we first took her to the vet, they did a sonogram and said they didn’t see anything and the bumps were nothing to be concerned about. As time went on she got more and more bumps covering her body. She was still full of energy so we took our time taking her back to the vet.
When we got a little more concerned, we returned her to the vet only to have the vet be very concerned. After some further testing, they discovered she had a very rare form of lymphoma. It was called cutaneous lymphoma. Our vet did not have much experience with this type of cancer so she missed the diagnosis the first time. We set up chemo treatments for her, but by the time her 2nd treatment rolled around, she was not eating and was not even lifting her head off the floor at times. We then decided it was time to relieve her of her pain.
After 9-1/2 years of loving people and us, she crossed the rainbow bridge on May 26th, 2021. We miss her terribly….
